Hispanic and Latin American Studies

About

This program is offered as a combined major. It offers a strong focus on Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking cultures. Spanish and Portuguese have become very popular language choices and are increasingly in demand in today's global economy.

You'll develop a comprehensive understanding of these major world regions and have the opportunity to explore your own disciplinary and thematic interests. Our courses integrate lectures with online modules, small group tutorials and opportunities to apply concepts to real-life situations via internships and community outreach.

You may choose to study at the University of Alcala, Spain during the summer or for a single semester, or explore study abroad programs in Europe or the Americas.

BA in Hispanic and Latin American Studies
Minor in Hispanic and Latin America Studies
Certificates in Spanish Proficiency or Spanish Proficiency for Native Speakers

Application Process

Previous Applicants/Returning Brock Students

Applicants who were previously registered at Brock may not need to reapply. Please contact the Admissions office at admissions@brocku.ca first, for instructions on applying or re-registering for classes. This includes students who have:

studied at Brock on a Letter of Permission
registered in courses previously but dropped them and never actually attended classes
registered and attended classes (even if part-time or Audit), and wish to return to Brock
graduated from Brock and interested in a Brock Second Degree
For Brock graduates interested in Upgrading, please email records@brocku.ca

Exception: Applicants applying to the BSc Nursing program who are current Brock students or graduates must apply on either the OUAC 105 Application (applying to multiple schools) or the Brock Application (applying to Brock only – see table below).
