This add-on (Honours) in advanced veterinary nursing programme is open to graduates of accredited level 7 qualifications in Veterinary Nursing and can be accessed on either a full time or part time basis. The aim of this programme is to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes to pursue extended or advanced veterinary nursing roles, such as critical care, laboratory diagnostics, management and leadership, or to undertake research in the field.

About
This is a Level 8 add-on in advanced veterinary nursing for holders of a Level 7 degree in veterinary nursing. It consists of 60 credits and includes research-based as well as clinical modules. The programme is available on a full time (1 year) or part time (2 year) basis. There is no work placement component, rather students will attend the DkIT campus for lectures and practical classes, plus some field trips.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have a Level 7 Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Nursing, which is a registrable qualification with the Veterinary Council of Ireland. If the programme is over-suribed, preference will be given to DkIT graduates and candidates will be selected by ranking credit-weighted average award marks.
International applicants must meet the minimum academic entry requirements for the programme in addition to providing evidence of proficiency in English. The English requirements are as follows:
Grade B2 equivalent on CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
OR
IELTS 6.0 (or Internationally-recognised equivalent).
Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements and have a cognate level 6 qualification with relevant experience may apply for entry through the Institute's RPL procedures.

If you are interested in studying in DkIT, you need to meet the entry requirements for the program for which you want to apply. Each application must be accompanied by certified evidence of all relevant qualifications held to date including evidence of proficiency in English.

If your application is successful, you will receive an initial letter of offer either directly or through the offices of the agency.
You must then pay the fees for the first year of the programme in full and and provide evidence of a health insurance policy. Once your fees have been lodged in full to the DKIT account, a final letter of offer will be issued. You will need this letter in order to apply for a student visa. Visa applications are made to your local Irish Embassy or Consulate or to the Department of Justice in Ireland. If your visa application is refused, you can apply to the Institute regarding a refund.
