    About

    This course is designed to prepare you for studying our BA (Hons) Human Resource Management degree.

    You'll develop your study skills including academic writing and personal and professional development to start you off in the best possible way for your degree.

    You will learn about business in a global and national context, and approaches to leading and managing in organisations. The Foundation Year also gives you the ability to the to develop your analytical skills and learn how to incorporate data to add real value to achieve organisational objectives.

    Once you’ve passed, you’ll be ready to start your degree course. That means your degree will take four years, or five years if it includes a work placement or year studying abroad.

    A foundation year provides the perfect environment to advance your academic abilities before continuing on to the full degree course. Key skills and knowledge gained during the year give you an excellent grounding and a wide exposure to a range of subjects within our triple-accredited business school.

    This course is designed to prepare you for studying our human resource management degree.

    On the full BA (Hons) Human Resource Management degree we’ll help you explore the latest thinking in the subject, starting with first principles of managing people, analysing information and understanding behaviour.

    From there, you’ll expand into topics likefthre managing across cultures and leading change. In your final year, you’ll also be able to pick your own subject as a research topic.

    UCAS tariff points

    A levels – e.g. BC-BB or DDD-CDD

    Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma – MMP

    Pass Access to HE Diploma with a minimum of 74 Tariff points

    T Levels - We welcome applications from students undertaking T Level qualifications. Eligible applicants will be asked to achieve a minimum overall grade of Pass as a condition of offer.

    Equivalent qualifications and combinations will be considered, including Extended Project when achieved at Grade C or above

    AS levels (or qualifications equivalent to AS level) are not accepted.

    International Baccalaureate points

    IB Diploma with minimum 24 points overall or 72-80 UCAS Tariff points from Higher Level. If you plan to meet the Level 2 course requirements through your IB Diploma you will need to achieve Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 5 in English and Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 4 in Mathematics

    HR professionals are employed in a wide variety of sectors, including:

    • banking and finance
    • retail
    • hospitality, tourism and events
    • public sector organisations such as government departments, councils, hospitals and the police.

    Many of our graduates go into training schemes with international companies like IBM, McDonald’s, or GE Healthcare. Some have chosen to develop their careers abroad – in Europe, Asia, and South America.

    Other graduates have chosen to continue their HR studies at postgraduate level to become CIPD Chartered HR Managers.
