Program details
The Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences offer a four-year program of study leading to a Doctor of Philosophy in Immunology.
Expected duration: 4 years
Tuition and fees: Two years tuition, then continuing fees in subsequent years (refer to Graduate tuition and fees)
In addition to the minimum course requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, found in the Graduate Studies Regulations Section, students must meet the minimum graduation requirements for their program of study.
Students entering with an MSc in Immunology
Candidates admitted directly into the PhD program or those transferring from the MSc program must:
- Complete 9 credit hours with a minimum of 6 credit hours of IMMU courses at the 7000 level
- Submit an acceptable doctoral thesis and pass an oral examination
- Pass a doctoral candidacy examination
Students entering with an MSc from another program
Candidates with an MSc degree in an area other than immunology must:
- Complete 15 credit hours with a minimum of 12 credit hours of IMMU courses at the 7000 level. Must include IMMU 7070 and 7100.
- Submit an acceptable doctoral thesis and pass an oral examination
- Pass a doctoral candidacy examination
Students entering with an honours bachelor degree
Candidates with an honours bachelor degree must:
- Complete 18 credit hours with a minimum of 12 credit hours of IMMU courses at the 7000 level. Must include IMMU 7070 and 7100.
- Submit an acceptable doctoral thesis and pass an oral examination
- Pass a doctoral candidacy examination
