    Overview Students apply for the Annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities through the NYS Approved Program pathway to certification, i.e., with Syracuse University’s verification of completion of this approved program. Applications for other New York State professional certificates are made by the student directly to the NYS Education Department through the Certificate Progression Pathway. Some teaching experience is required before the professional certificate is awarded. No additional NYS teacher examinations are required for the Annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities. Close relationships with programs like the nationally-recognized Jowonio School provide intensive field work as well as paid TA and assistant opportunities for students.Small student cohorts and a highly engaged alumni network mean you get to know your teachers and peers who will become your lifelong colleagues.Take part in School of Education short-term study abroad programs around the world. Through the Himan Brown Fellowship, School of Education students are also eligible for exclusive funding to support study abroad experiences. Accreditation Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
    Students who successfully complete this Inclusive Special Education: Severe/Multiple Disabilities program at Syracuse University qualify for an Annotation in Severe and Multiple Disabilities and may also use this master’s degree as a credential to meet academic requirements for additional professional certificates after initial certification.
