    About

Certificates allow you to complete a specific group of university courses (for credit) as either part of your degree studies or separately..

Focusing on Aboriginal history, cultures, arts, rights and governance, this cross-disciplinary certificate allows students to gain deeper comprehension of the enduring presence of Aboriginal societies and cultures in Canada. It is particularly valuable for Aboriginal students interested in reconstructing the principles underlying their own worldviews, environment, languages; and for non-Aboriginal students who wish to have a understanding of their own relationship, as Canadians, to Aboriginal peoples.

Students will have access to a broad selection of courses that provide Aboriginal perspectives on a range of topics, including colonization history, cultural survival, contemporary Native arts, Indigenous rights, First Nations governance, urbanization, and relations between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in Canada.

This certificate is ideal for students for whom knowledge of Aboriginal peoples' histories, cultures and current issues may have particular relevance to their chosen career paths and/or future academic studies.
