About the ISE Program at Stevens
In the ISE program, youll learn how to design, manage and implement solutions to improve quality, performance and efficiency. You'll develop a skillset to learn how to do things better at the enterprise-level such as how increase customer satisfaction, improve efficiencies, decrease costs and reduce waste in enterprise operations. By the time they complete theirISE graduate degree program, students will be well positioned to drive entire organizations toward success, making them invaluable technical leaders in industry and government with the application-driven toolkit enabling them to seek and implement solutions to enterprise system challenges.
Students in the ISE program have the opportunity to delve into complex systems study at the Center for Complex Systems & Enterprises (CCSE) Immersion Lab. Students also have an opportunity to interact with world-class researchers from the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC) on relevant research topics.

Message from Director
Dr. Kathryn Abel, director of undergraduate academics, industrial and systems engineering
Industrial and systems engineers are increasingly in demand for their valuable systems approach to complex, highly interconnected products and processes. Stevens industrial and systems engineers bring an in-depth knowledge of data analytics to their distributed decision-making approach that allows them to address unstructured problems and create innovative, optimized and impactful solutions that help businesses adapt to new technologies and situations that increase efficiency while reducing industrial costs.
The Difference at Stevens
Faculty at Stevens understand that tomorrows engineers require the skills to use data to build modern, efficient systems. That's precisely why our ISE program is data-intensive. SSE faculty teach students how to extract useful data from information enterprises and how to apply it in mathematical models and analytical tools to gain insight to inform problem solving and decision support.
The ISE program at Stevens is a rich educational experience that provides students a broad-based engineering education with a specialization in data analysis aspects of the industrial and systems engineering fields.â€
The curriculum is designed to teach and focus students on:
- Thinking about the ways in which technology can help organizations accomplish goals
- Applying systems analytics and data science to engineering design
This creates engineers with a larger perspective on systems. With the capability to use data to develop a big-picture model of systems, analyze problems and optimize system quality and performance, our ISE graduates are assets to enterprises.
