About

Interconnected computing elements occur in almost all of todays technological products. Because of this embedded nature of software within hardware, the borders between electrical engineering and computer science have become increasingly obsolete. The interdisciplinary field of Information Systems Technology (iST) is situated at this interface. The Master of Science degree in Information Systems Technology deals with the construction of complex microprocessor-driven information systems, which are required by the coordinated interaction between hardware and software development. For example, electrical communications engineering now requires mastery of a high degree of software complexity, and at the same time, the physical and electro-technical legality of their fields of operation are becoming more and more important in the planning phase of software systems.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Applying with international qualifications (language requirements, application deadlines): International Admission. Requirements for admission to the Masters degree programme comprise a Bachelor of Science degree in the same field of study or an equivalent degree. Admission to the Masters Degree programme may also depend on additional requirements. Specific degree entrance requirements may be found here and in the competences description.

English Program Requirements

You must pass the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” (DSH-2) as evidence that your spoken and written command of the German language is adequate for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes for which the language of instruction is German.

Participating in the DSH at the Studienkolleg is subject to charge.

Throughout the recent past, the demand for software developers has risen sharply in numerous industrial sectors and is expected to continue to do so. The spectrum of occupations is rather large and the job opportunities are correspondingly good. Information Systems Technology engineers may thus find work in automotive or mechanical engineering, in the fields of automation, communication, medical, or aerospace engineering. Furthermore, they can find employment in the household appliances industry or in the field of entertainment technology. Generally speaking, Information Systems Technology engineers are in demand wherever a coordinated interaction of hardware and software development is required.
