Innovative Technical Textiles

Mission:

To train manpower with knowledge and equipment that can contribute to the competitiveness of our country and lead interdisciplinary studies in the field of innovative technical textiles that has been currently developing in the world. .

Vision:

To be a program that has knowledge about product design and development processes in the field of innovative technical textiles, can raise solutions for technological problems, train manpower to lead developments and ensure its continuity. p>

Research Fields:

1. It has an interdisciplinary structure as it includes the applications of different disciplines such as Materials, Polymer, Nanotechnology as well as Textile Engineering in technical textiles..

2. The difference of this proposed graduate program from the other master's programs such as Materials, Polymer, and Nanotechnology being carried out in our university is that these disciplines do not include a education and curriculum for the use of a technical textile product in the design, development, production and testing processes..

3. Course contents included in the curriculum are also designed for technical textile applications such as innovative and functional materials and products used in technical textiles, polymeric biomaterials, nanomaterials and composites, high performance textile materials.

General Information

1. It is a graduate program under the Textile Engineering Department and provides education only at Master of Science level.

2. Candidates who have graduated from a four-year undergraduate program from different disciplines can apply to this program.

3. ALES score (Quantitative): min.65.

4. Undergraduate GPA: 2.30 / 4.00

5. Student admission to the program is carried out according to ITU Graduate Regulations and Senate Principles.

6. There is no Scientific Preparation.

7. Considering the demand from textile companies' R&D centers, the quota of the program is determined as 30 people.

8. This program is supported by the Istanbul Textile Raw Materials Exporters Association (ITHIB).

Innovative Technical Textiles” Master of Science Program Educational Objectives

1. Having detailed information about all processes from raw material to final product in different fields of innovative technical textiles.

2. Having the necessary knowledge and equipment to solve technological problems in the field of innovative technical textiles and lead future developments.

3. Having the ability to design, develop and evaluate innovative and unique technical textile products and evaluate product quality depending on the area of use.

4. Has the potential to create competitive advantage in their professions thanks to the interdisciplinary perspective offered by the program.

5. To raise graduates who have the ability to transmit the current developments and their studies in the field of innovative technical textiles in their own language or foreign language in written, verbal and visual form, by supporting with quantitative and qualitative data and by using information and communication technologies.

1. Applicant’s official transcripts including all undergraduate and/or graduate level courses and their grades issued by the universities that the applicant graduated or will be graduated from.
   
   Applicantwho will apply for PhD programs afterhis/her undergraduate degree has to have at least 3.0 Cumulative GPA out of 4.00 .
2. One of the Score Documents from Academic Personnel and Graduate Level Entrance Exam (ALES), GRE or GMAT including the related scores (ALES, GRE and GMAT scores are valid for 5 years.)
   
   Applicants for Master's Programs are required to have Numerical score minimum 55 from ALES . Applicantswho will apply for PhD programs aftertheirundergraduate level degree arerequiredto have Numerical scoreminimum 80FROM ALES (ALES minimum score is not required for the Social Sciences Institute Music programs)
   
   The minimum score required from Quantitative section of GRE is 610 (in the new system is minimum 149).
   
   Applicants for Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences Programs can apply with GMAT certificate. GMATwitha minimum score of 450is required for these applicants.

TOEFL IBT/PBT,PTE, İTU English Proficiency Exam valid for 2 years.
ÜDS,KPDS,YDS, e-YDS test results are valid for 5 years . TOEFL ITP is not accepted.

English certificate is not mandatory in the Master applications.
The students admitted to any master program can complete their registration without an English certificate, but they cannot take courses until the submission of a valid English certificate. The applicants for a PhD program must deliver English certificate up to the registration period. If they do not submit a valid English certificate in the registration, they will not be registered.

ABOUT TOEFL IBT EXAM
Inaccordance with the decision taken at the meeting of ITU University Board of Directors dated 15.12.2011 and numbered 914 ; dating from the fall semester of the 2012-2013 academic year, IfTOEFL and IBT test results are from the testing centers in Turkey ,only the results from the exams conducted in the centers in state and private universities are accepted by ITU. TOEFL home edition can be used due to the pandemic.

   For each applied program two recommendation letters are required.For MSc applications, oneof these recommendation letters is required to be prepared by an academic instructor who the student worked with. For PhD applications, one of the recommendation letters must be supplied from the supervisor that the candidatesare planning to study together during their doctorate education.
   Reference letter is uploaded to the system by the person who is giving the reference, not by the candidate
