Integrated LL.B. and State Examination Program in Law

    About

The integrated program in Law (LL.B. / state examination) at the University of Mannheim trains students to become lawyers who are qualified in Business Administration and Economics.

The focus during phase one, the bachelors degree in Business Law, is placed upon civil law, business law and economic law. Modules in law represent approximately 60 percent of the integrated program and also cover material that is mandatory for the state examination. Modules in Business Administration and Economics account for a further 30 percent of the program, with focus placed on business administration. For this part of the program, you can choose between specializing in tax and accounting, or human resources. Finally, students take modules to develop soft skills, such as presentation techniques and negotiation management.

Phase two, the state examination, is completed during four additional semesters of study. During this phase, students learn about public law and criminal law – this content is mandatory for the state examination. Upon completion of phase one, the bachelors degree in Business Law, students are automatically admitted to phase two, the state examination, without having to take part in an admissions process.

Our graduates work, for example, in legal and human resources departments, and in tax consultancy, controlling, auditing, purchasing, and sales teams.

The first state examination in Law, which you can take after you have completed four additional semesters of study, is the first step towards becoming a lawyer in Germany. You can then begin your Referendariat and go on to take your second state examination. Passing the second state examination enables you to become a judge or lawyer in Germany.
