    About

    Overview

The LLM in International Commercial Law gives you specialist knowledge of the regulation of international commerce, and a thorough understanding of the broader social, economic and political contexts which shape modern commercial law and practice.

The flexibility of the distance learning delivery allows you to study at your own convenience with our virtual learning environment, and we provide live online sessions with tutors that help you contextualise your learning.

The course offers a wide range of modules that are contemporary, academically rigorous, and skills oriented. You will gain core knowledge of the framework and regulatory environment of modern commerce whilst having the flexibility to tailor your degree to suit your particular interests and career aspirations by choosing from a range of specialist commercial law modules (and optional modules from the School of Management).

Whatever your choice, your studies will combine knowledge of established areas of international commercial law, for example:

    • principles of international commercial contracts
    • the process of commercial dispute resolution
    • principles of international trade and investment law
    • banking and finance law
    • intellectual property law

and of emerging fields such as:

    • the dematerialisation of trade documents and paperless processing
    • data protection and the regulation of financial technologies
    • crypto-assets
    • artificial intelligence

in regard to their impact on trade and commerce.

The curriculum also incorporates significant developments in the broader socio-economic and political environment such as COVID-19, trade protectionism and Brexit.
