    About

BSc (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Management (Top-Up)

A career in tourism or hospitality will always be rewarding – whether you want to travel the world yourself or help other people have incredible experiences.

    Course Information

    Opportunities in Manchester and beyond

Weve packed our programme with valuable experiences to add to your portfolio, such as the opportunity to take part in a competition in your second year, with the winners attending the EMCup in Maastrich to compete against hospitality students from 40 European universities.

Our industry partners regularly give talks, either in person or digitally, and regularly look for students to work with them at events or on placement. Previous students have shadowed the event coordinator for a 600-person ball at The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel and worked with the HR team at Hotel Gotham. The only limit is how much time you can spare!

    Academia meets the real world

We make sure you get a good mix of classroom work and practical sessions. One day you might be learning about operations in a lecture, the next you might be on a tour of a kitchen with the head chef. There are plenty of opportunities to learn practical skills, take our food product development lab, for example. Here youll learn all about menus, food waste and sustainability, and the cost implications of homegrown vs bought-in products.

Since this course has an international focus, you can study a language as one of your option units throughout each year with us. Youll also be able to choose from other options in hospitality and tourism to help you personalise the course around your own interests and career goals.

After your second year, you can choose to go straight on to final year or go on a placement. We have great links with local organisations, and we can help you find opportunities all over the world. Well also support you throughout your time with the business.

Your final year research project is a chance to really show off your expertise and specialise in a subject. You can choose your own topic or base it on something you discovered on your placement.

    Foundation Year

This course has a foundation year available. For more information visit the foundation year page.
