    The course emphasises the complexity and dynamics of sport business and management, giving you knowledge of the integrative nature of the factors affecting management decisions.

    You gain an understanding of international sports marketing and management theory, concepts, and frameworks, and learn to critically evaluate and reflect on these in practice. This multidisciplinary approach and international context, gives you a range of personal and business skills that enables you to pursue careers associated with international sports marketing and management in the private, public, and voluntary sectors.

    You develop the skills and competences of future managers within sports marketing and management, making independent decisions at both a tactical and strategic level.

    Core modules

    Contemporary Issues in Business Management

    You develop an understanding of the challenges faced by organisations and explores the controversies and dilemmas of contemporary management thinking and practice. You study three key interrelated contemporary issues facing businesses - internationalisation; technological innovation and sustainability.

    Sport Branding

    Firstly, you consider the context, value and concepts of contemporary sport brands, before critiquing the influence and meaning of sport brands in regards to their economic, social and cultural impact.

    Strategic Sports Business Marketing

    This module is about how to take a strategic approach in marketing planning to achieve competitive advantage. The module outlines the importance of all stages within the marketing planning process, from the audit, through strategic decision making, to implementation of plans

    Undergraduate Business Project

    The module comprises a learner-managed business project, the topic area of which will be associated with the your programme area of study. The project will provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your capability to undertake an individual piece of research within a business context.

    The project may be an investigation of a relevant issue of academic interest, an investigation of a practical business issue, or a live problem-solving project.

    Undergraduate Business Research Methods Top-up

    This module seeks to develop your skills in research methods applicable to business and related areas. It focuses on qualitative and quantitative research methods, and will prepare you for the Undergraduate Business Project module.

    All modules are delivered through blended learning, which includes a combination of face-to-face learning, online delivery and assessment, and student-led activities. The modules are supported by the University's Virtual Learning Environment and a range of digital tools to communicate, support and engage.

    As well as standard essay and report assessments, the course also includes innovative module assessments such as:

    • business projects
    • case study analysis
    • group and individual presentations
    • individual assignments.

    Entry Requirements

    Community college diploma with 65% minimum

    Or, holders of a a Tawjihi 65%+ average plus a recognised foundation programme

    Or, holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with 27 points or more will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor degree courses

    Career

    Graduates from this programme are well prepared for careers in sports management, marketing and events with national governing bodies of sport, local authorities or other similar organisations.

    Typical vocational destinations include sport business roles in a range of public, private and not-for-profit organisations. This course is also a prerequisite qualification for a range of postgraduate courses within the sports and leisure industry.

    Employability is an integral component of the programme and allows you to access experiences that cannot be offered within the lecture theatre. You have multiple opportunities to undertake a series of volunteer internships on this degree. Employers underline the importance of a good degree, but also place huge emphasis on relevant experience and evidence of transferable skills. The volunteer internships are an opportunity for you to apply taught content to the workplace and to gain exposure to the industry and network with potential employers.
