    About the course

    This multidisciplinary course develops your understanding of international tourism while giving you the practical skills you need to take on a management role in the fast-paced rapidly evolving events sector.

    The course combines the key subject areas of business marketing and tourism with an industry focus on events management. It develops your theoretical understanding of all these areas while encouraging you to put theory into practice working on real-life briefs and case studies.

    To start the course you study the business of events management tourism and hospitality before moving on to explore areas such as cultural tourism; marketing; and tourism and sustainable development. Specific events management units may include event planning and operations; risk and crisis management for events; events and destination marketing; and event planning in practice.

    This course aims to enable you to develop the necessary skills for and knowledge practice and understanding of the events industry.

    You will become a self-directed self-regulated reflexive learner using an awareness of opportunities for careers or further study in the event industry.

    With a good grounding in business and marketing the course offers students an industry focus in event management with good employment opportunities across a range of roles in both marketing and events e.g. Strategic Event Designer Trade Show Manager Events Marketing Communication Managers Social Media Event Managers Sporting Events Manager.

    This inter-disciplinary course combines key subject areas of business marketing and event management in a practice-oriented way that allows you to develop a deep theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of events management.

    To apply for a place on an undergraduate course (BA/BSc) you need to have completed your high school education (12 years) and have a pass equivalent to two UK A level passes and have the required English language qualification.
