The internet is a central feature of society which permeates nearly all economic and social activities. As a consequence, the continuing development and deployment of internet technologies needs experts trained not only in applied computer science but in all the various areas touched upon by these technologies. This unique, hands-on programme provides a comprehensive computer science education with an emphasis on internet technologies. At the same time, it enables you to acquire basic knowledge in the fields of business/economics and law, social studies, media and communication or embedded and intelligent systems (each offered as elective modules). In this way, the programme bridges the gap between computer science and business/economics, law and the humanities.
Requirements
Entry Requirements
To apply for this degree programme you need a recognised university entrance qualification, e.g. the German Abitur or an equivalent qualification.
Career
The degree programme is relevant for all occupational fields related to internet technology. Having graduated from this interdisciplinary programme, you can look forward to excellent career prospects across the whole occupational spectrum of the public and private sectors, which are increasingly reliant on internet and communication technologies for their day-to-day operations.
While the degree qualifies you for career entry positions in the public and private sectors, it also gives you the prerequisites to undertake a master’s degree programme in applied computer science, in computer science with a suitable application focus, or in a field related to computer science. For instance, you could continue your university education with Passau's M.Sc. Computer Science or other master's programmes, such as M.A. Media and Communication, provided you study the relevant electives during this bachelor's programme.
In general, following up with a master’s degree demonstrates your capability for carrying out original scientific research; it also allows you to consolidate your knowledge and paves the way for doctoral study and a career in academia.
