    About

Overview With a core faculty of four, plus a number of community and university partners, investigating interdisciplinary perspectives in partnership with programs on and off campus is key to our success.  Italian Studies annually sponsors and co-sponsors a range of events, some on specialized academic topics, others of more general interest subjects, most open to the public, including lectures, conferences, and film screenings. We sponsor and support study abroad programs in Italy during the regular academic year and in the summer. The Italian Studies program of Emory University is a flexible major which easily facilitates a double major in a subject that complements Italian Studies as well as a language or culture minor that can enhance any resume in today's global economy. Our classes range from language study from beginning through advanced levels to courses on Italian literature, culture, cinema, and food. We also offer a series of extracurricular activities including: the Italian Club, community engaged learning opportunities, conversation tables, film screenings, guest speakers, peer tutoring, and more. While the Italian Studies program of Emory University has strong roots in its mission of teaching and promoting the language and literature of Italy, we are committed to showing our students Italian culture through numerous interdisciplinary lenses, perspectives and global contexts, from the Middle Ages and Renaissance to the present day.
