Our foundation year is flexible and led by your interests. You can study journalism on its own or try other creative subjects. This includes sports journalism, media and television production, and screenwriting. This can help you decide what to study as a degree.
You'll work on a series of projects in your foundation year. You'll receive a brief, carry out research and write stories. This will develop the skills you need for your degree. Alternatively, you can try another creative subject to explore in greater depth.
All of our art and media foundation year students study together. This creates a real sense of community. You'll be working alongside artists, fashion designers and photographers. This can inspire your own creative approach to journalism.
Once you successfully complete your foundation year, you will progress onto our Journalism BA (Hons) degree. You’ll learn all the essential broadcast, digital and traditional reporting skills. Our course is accredited by the NCTJ. They are the UK’s leading professional body for the training of qualified and trusted journalists.
