    About the course

    Graduating with an LLB from the University of Bedfordshire is the first step on your journey towards becoming a solicitor or a barrister as well as a range of other professional opportunities. This LLB is for you if you have a particular interest in exploring the intersection between the law psychology and human behaviour.

    The LLB is the undergraduate degree for all students wishing to pursue a career in law.

    With this degree you study the core legal subjects all LLB undergraduates are required to study as well as relevant aspects of psychology such as psychology and criminal behaviour; psychology and mental health; social psychology; psychology and criminal justice; and forensic psychology in practice. These units provide you with a greater understanding of human behaviour alongside your law studies.

    You learn from a dedicated team with professional experience in the legal industry and criminal justice system. You can also extend your in-class learning with a range of skill-building extra-curricular opportunities including our Law Clinic; award-winning Refugee Legal Assistance Project; and mooting programme.

    Note on QLD/SQE route to professional qualification

    The LLB is a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD) recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

    In line with the relevant SRA guidance the QLD/LPC route to professional qualification as a solicitor is no longer available to students who register after 21 September 2021. Upon successful completion of this LLB course you will pursue your professional qualification through the new Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE) route.

Alongside the core topics which satisfy the Foundation of Legal Knowledge requirements of the Law Society and the Bar Council you will study key psychology topics such as psychology and criminal behaviour psychology and mental health critical social psychology psychology and criminal justice and forensic psychology in practice which will provide you with a greater understanding of human behaviour alongside your law studies.

    The LLB is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Council as a Qualifying Law Degree which exempts you from the academic stage of legal training.

    Note on QLD/SQE transitional arrangements

    Students who register on one of our LLB courses by 21 September 2021 (inclusive) will be eligible for a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD) upon graduation and will be able to pursue professional qualification as a solicitor through either the Legal Practice Course (LPC) soon to be phased out or the new Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE).

    In line with the relevant SRA guidance the QLD/LPC route will no longer be available to students who register after 21 September 2021. Upon successful completion of the LLB course those students will be able to pursue their professional qualification through the SQE route. Please see the SRA guidance on transitional arrangement

    To apply for a place on an undergraduate course (BA/BSc) you need to have completed your high school education (12 years) and have a pass equivalent to two UK A level passes and have the required English language qualification.

    How to Apply

    When you submit an application form you must remember to include photocopies of the following supporting documents. We do not need to see your original qualifications and certificates.

    • A completed application form signed by you (an electronic signature is fine)
    • Copies of your official academic qualifications and certificates including proof of your level of English Language (where relevant)
    • A one-page personal statement. This should tell us why you want to study your chosen course.
    • A copy of your current valid passport details
    • Please submit copies of any UK Visa that you have held and any documentation relating to previous visa refusals from any country
