About

Program details

The Leadership for Business and Organizations minor consists of 18 credit hours of courses offered by the Asper School of Business.

Expected duration: 18 credit hours

To qualify for and declare the Leadership for Business and Organizations minor, you must achieve a grade of "C" or better in:

GMGT 1010: Business and Society (3 credit hours)
GMGT 2060: Management and Organizational Theory (3 credit hours)

After entry to the minor, students must complete the following 6 credit hours:

GMGT 2070: Introduction to Organizational Behaviour (3 credit hours)
LEAD 4010: Leading Change (3 credit hours)

And, any 6 credit hours from the following courses:

GMGT 3010: Management Decision-Making (3 credit hours)
LEAD 3010: Negotiation and Conflict Management (3 credit hours)
LEAD 3030: Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (3 credit hours)
LEAD 4020: Leadership, Power and Politics in Organizations (3 credit hours)
PSYC 2540: Social Psychology (3 credit hours) [Prerequisite: PSYC 1200(C) or written consent of department head.
INDG 3350: Aboriginal Organizations (3 credit hours) [Prerequisite INDG 1200 (C) or [INDG1200 (C) and INDG 1240 (C)] or written consent of department head.]

The Minor in Leadership for Business and Organizations is a new minor offered by the Asper School of Business to non-business students interested in developing their leadership knowledge and capabilities to apply in their careers in any field. Leadership involves a well developed set of cross-functional skills that can serve students' careers as organizations increasingly call for effective leadership in teams, decision-making, conflict resolution, understanding how to lead and contribute to innovation and change, and other areas. At the end of the minor, students work on interdisciplinary leadership projects that are directly transferrable to knowledge needed in the workplace.

How to Apply

Once you've checked requirements and gathered what you need, it's time to begin your online application.

The application is split into different sections and asks you for your personal information, post-secondary education, and may ask more detailed questions related to your program of application.

If you've already gathered required materials, the online application will take about 30 minutes to complete. For your security, you will be logged out after 30 minutes of inactivity. Education history

A complete listing of your educational background from Grade 12 (or highest grade level), College and University (including the University of Manitoba) is required as part of your application. Also required is the listing of institutions attended on an exchange or letter of permission.

Avoid application fraud or misconduct

If you commit application fraud or misconduct, your University of Manitoba acceptance and registration may be withdrawn and you may be disqualified from consideration, not only in the year of application, but also in all subsequent sessions. If discovered in a subsequent session it may result in dismissal from the university.

Application fraud or misconduct includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Failure to declare attendance at another post-secondary institution
Presenting falsified academic documentation or causing or encouraging another person to falsify records through translation or data changes
Presenting falsified personal documentation, e.g. using a false name, date of birth, country of origin, etc.
Presenting falsified or fictitious reference documentation
Cheating on or having another person write a standardized entry exam such as TOEFL, IELTS, MCAT, LSAT or DAT
Presenting another person's standardized test score as one's own to falsify a test result
Failure to report suspensions from another post-secondary institution
Paying for an application fee with a fraudulent credit card

Making changes to your application after submission

Once you've submitted your application, you can make changes to your email address, mailing address, and release of information under the "Application Summary" tab in your application portal.
