    About

Choosing a major is difficult. The Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Undecided option is setup to help you select from over 30 majors (see the list below). While the program is not a degree-granting major, it gives you the opportunity to consider different ideas, topics, careers and majors. You will be assigned to a dedicated academic advisor who will work with you to identify your strengths, interests, and career goals before choosing the right major in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. Your course schedule will be created individually and tailored for your interest while fulfilling general education requirements. You have up to two years to explore but most students declare a major much sooner. Liberal arts and human sciences graduates go on to careers in government, healthcare, education, law, business, communication, public service, and technology.

    Entry Requirements

    International Baccalaureate Education System

Virginia Tech encourages prospective students to seek the most challenging high school courses possible. Students taking International Baccalaureate (IB) courses will be considered competitive for freshman admissions. An applicant's entire academic profile will be reviewed holistically.

To receive credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations, an official transcript of examination results should be forward to the Registrar's Office directly from the issuing institution. To determine how many credits you may receive please visit the Registrar's website.

All first-year and transfer students accepting admission to Virginia Tech and seeking college credits for IB examinations must arrange for an official transcript of examination results to be sent to Virginia Tech by the IB Offices once available.

    How to Apply

For students entering in 2023, Virginia Tech will exclusively use the Common App for first-year and transfer applications. While we remain a Coalition member, we have paused the Coalition application for one cycle to provide ample time to adjust to the new application platform that Coalition will be using.
