    About

As more businesses invest in digital transformation, public sector and central government services are accessed digitally ‘by default’, e-retail outgrows physical high street sales, and a multiplicity of digital services and experiences – for entertainment, sociality and wellbeing – are used by the majority of the population on a daily basis, the need for digital User Experience (UX) specialists will only continue to grow.

The MA User Experience Design introduces you to the necessary core principles of UX Design through lectures, seminars and hands-on studio projects, therefore no prior knowledge of UX Design is required. You will participate in a co-creation module that challenges you to harness your creative, collaborative and critical skills in articulating issu

    Course information

UX Design promotes human-centred approaches to learning to prepare you for a role in the digital UX professions. As a ‘conversion course’, UX Design is suitable for graduates (or those with equivalent experience) from a range of disciplines and is designed to build on your existing knowledge and skills with the necessary specialist UX knowledge to enter the UX professions.

UX Design as an industry is evolving in response to unprecedented technological change. To enable responsible design practice, UX Design accounts for the relevant social, regulatory and legal, cultural and economic contexts in which digital products, services and experiences are responsibly designed and made available for wide use.

The programme capitalises on its location and culturally rich situation in Manchester to produce culturally literate and contextually aware graduates who can positively contribute to the UX industries. You will graduate as a self-reflexive and contextually aware UX Designer who can positively contribute to the design industries and wider society.

Having acquired the necessary competencies in more UX specialist modules you will be guided through independent projects by staff with the necessary complementary skills and experience to support and challenge you. Our postgraduate community is led by a specialist team of academic staff and includes visiting speakers who are practising designers and researchers.

The postgraduate student experience is designed to provide you with opportunities to develop and demonstrate UX skills and knowledge while establishing professional links across the postgraduate population and with the UX industries.
