    About the course

    You need a diverse skill set to work as a hair and make-up artist in fast-moving sectors such as media broadcast film theatre and fashion. This course gives you the creative breadth and depth to work across a wide range of industries or specialise in a particular area.

    You develop your creativity skills and techniques in areas such as fashion prosthetics medical simulation character design and period hair and make-up. The course covers make-up and hair for all ethnicities as well as the latest techniques for film and TV including 4K films. You learn with an industry-experienced team who teach at the leading edge of current product and technique developments.

    Work experience and realistic tasks are part of the course so you gain the necessary skills to work on set on location or in the studio. In addition you collaborate with students from other courses – such as acting photography and film and TV production - to produce cross-course events; contribute to films stage and photography projects; and support each other in portfolio creation and development.

    This course offers a unique variety in media and fashion make-up and hair with full preparation for self-employment as a multi-skilled make-up artist.

    You will work with established tutors and visiting industry experts to develop their creativity skills and techniques across a range of live and filmed work using studios stage location and installation opportunities. The make-up industry values a diverse skill set which we seek to develop along with make-up and hair design skills which include prosthetics fashion character and period elements along with your unique creativity.

    2 A level passes (minimum C and D)

    International Baccalaureate (24 points)

    To apply for a place on an undergraduate course (BA/BSc) you need to have completed your high school education (12 years) and have a pass equivalent to two UK A level passes and have the required English language qualification.
