A growing number of companies transact a significant portion of their business through international channels. Even those corporations conducting business strictly in the U.S. have to compete with foreign imports and for foreign labor. As a result, managers of major corporations that take advantage of international opportunities have a competitive edge.
UGA has designed its Management and International Business co-major to assist students in developing an in-depth understanding of the operations of international management and the business arena. Students take courses in international strategic and service operations management, international business, ethics, international marketing, and others. Students must also satisfy an international immersion requirement such as a study abroad program, internship, or additional foreign languages. (Refer to the Pre-Business major for information on applying.)
Many graduates join a major firm as a management trainee or work in specialized areas such as international sales, manufacturing, or purchasing. Others work with a hospital, governmental agency, other public sector organization, or start their own entrepreneurial venture. Career opportunities in management are limited only by a student's own dreams, aptitudes, ambitions, and perseverance.
