Our marketing, events and tourism research degree (MPhil/PhD) allows you to undertake rigorous and critical exploration of one or more of these fields with support from an expert supervisor.
Our marketing, events and tourism MPhil/PhD programme involves producing a substantial piece of original work in your chosen field. Unlike taught courses, this degree places greater emphasis on research and an original contribution to knowledge. You attend courses in your first year to develop the advanced research skills for gathering, analysing, and presenting quantitative and/or qualitative data.
Staff members in the Tourism and Marketing Research Centre can supervise research students in the areas of tourism management/studies, hospitality management/ critical hospitality, events management, (digital) marketing, advertising, media studies, and public relations. Our digital marketing suite, for instance, provides the authentic experience of working in a marketing or advertising agency. It’s perfect if you’re taking part in a group project, as you can bounce ideas off each other using the latest interactive Mersive software. We also support research in tourism policy and governance, entrepreneurship and innovation, digital tourism, responsible consumption, and wellbeing.
