    The MBA Digital Transformation (Online) course offers a lively and well-balanced integrated curriculum that places a significant emphasis on the application of a broad range of knowledge, ranging from organisational setting and responsible leadership; international business and global outlook, to the ability needed for understanding and dealing with the rapid changes in the technological environment. Hence, this course is designed to empower businesses and their leaders with the skills needed for taking and evolving businesses through the transitions into the new digital world.

You can manage, lead and transform organisations in an entrepreneurial, digital and responsible way, be innovative and have the ability to make a positive difference to your performance and society in this dynamic, complex and digital global environment.

    A topical, well balanced, integrated curriculum that places a large emphasis on the application of knowledge in the organisational setting. You will develop your personal, professional, critical thinking and reflective skills to prepare you to manage, lead and transform your organisations and make a positive difference to your personal performance, and society more generally Moreover, the digital modules offered allow you to get a balanced study of key topics from both the computing and business disciplines essential to fully comprehend the context and purpose of digital transformation.

    You will be exposed to multidisciplinary case studies related to digital transformation with the aim of widening your understanding of the application of digital technologies in different business context. Some of the modules are based on a constructionist approach to teaching providing an opportunity for you to learn while experiencing a supportive environment. There are three intakes in an academic year and the length of this online course is flexible, giving you an opportunity to choose what best suits your time commitments.

    The environment in which businesses operate today is extremely dynamic. The rapid development in digital technology pose myriad of challenges and uncertainty for leaders and their organisations.

    Digital Transformation

    Digital transformation is a change process that allows businesses and society to achieve goals such as improving accessibility and quality of digital services, increasing income generation, implementing innovative and generating a collaborative culture through the use of technology. The adoption of emerging technologies is important to businesses and can be fundamental to their survival. But digital transformation is not all about technology.

    You gain an in-depth understanding of the context of digital transformation, its challenges and possible future as well as its leadership and management. You gain the skills to develop a digital transformation strategy for an organisation, by engaging in critical assessment of cutting-edge research findings to inform your solution.

    Entrepreneurial Leadership

    You consider the nature of entrepreneurial leadership, with a specific focus towards structure, culture and strategy. You utilise a range of case studies and live examples and inspect selected strategy development concepts, linked to public, private and third-sector organisations. You evaluate the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and organisational performance.

    Exploring Global Strategy

    As the global business environment becomes ever more complex and volatile, there is a need for organisations of all shapes and sizes to think and act more entrepreneurially and creatively in order to be able to change and adapt to the myriad of exogenous factors that enter an organisation's radar on a frequent basis. This interdisciplinary module will provide you with an understanding of the internal and external factors that impact strategic decision making. You will be introduced to a variety of strategic theories, tools and concepts, but all in the context of the external environment and its impact on strategic challenges and choices. You will be exposed to a variety of academic, practical material and financial data that you can apply to your own organisations, or a live case organisation in order to appreciate the importance of developing and implementing innovative strategic plans for the success of the organisation, its key stakeholders and society more broadly.

    MBA Dissertation

    You integrate learning and development and synthesise knowledge and understanding of theory and practice. You work towards this through undertaking a major project related to a business issue of significance within your organisation(s).

    Project Management Philosophies and Tools

    Contemporary project management is an evolving and extensive discipline that has grown substantially to meet the needs of modern project management demands. This module cultivates detailed and critical awareness of this domain and its expanding range of philosophies, tools and frameworks.

    The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the expanding discipline of project management and familiarise them with modern and contemporary project management modalities and the importance of effective project management to organisational functioning, enterprise growth and development.

    Sustainable Leadership

    Become more self-reflective and develop self-leadership skills to guide your future career. You develop a creative and entrepreneurial approach to leadership, with a focus on global sustainability – essential to navigating the challenges of a fast-paced 21st century organisation.

    The Sustainable Organisation

    You are introduced to the concept of the sustainable organisation, with a particular emphasis towards socio-economic impact. You analyse the relationship between various stakeholders and evaluate the relationship between entrepreneurship, philanthropy and sustainability. You gain an understanding of business in society and contemporary issues relating to philanthropy, and consider the role of government and policy-makers in shaping the legal, fiscal and cultural context for philanthropy and classical economics, and the role of the rational economic organisation.

    The course will be delivered through Teesside University's online and distance learning platform (TU Online). Online tutors and campus based academic staff will deliver the teachings where appropriate.

    The course assessment strategy has been designed to assess both of your subject specific knowledge and your cognitive and intellectual skills and transferable skills applicable in the workplace, especially in the era of the new digital-empowered world.

    Within modules, assessments have been selected to match the expressed learning outcomes. The distribution of learning outcomes has been considered to ensure all course outcomes could be met by the end of the course.

    A variety of assessment methods have been used to ensure the overall strategy provides a range of opportunities to demonstrate learning and abilities obtained through the course of study.

    Formative assessment is a key aspect of each of the modules and will take the form of contribution to discussion boards and engagement in the virtual learning space. Formative assessments will be administered through the VLE platform through relevant discussion forums and peer engagement, auto-test quizzes, etc. These non-graded formative assessments with a developmental purpose are built into our modules where appropriate, and take place throughout the duration.

    This type of assessment is specifically designed to help you learn more effectively and prepares you for summative assessments by providing timely feedback on areas to be commended and those for improvement. The type, length, format requirements and timing of formative assessments varies according to the summative assessments of each module.
