MBA/MSSpS Coordinated Degrees Program
Students may earn a coordinated MBA degree and a Master of Science degree from Wiess School of Natural Sciences Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program in following fields:
- Bioscience and Health Policy (MSBHP)
- Environmental Analysis (MSEA)
- Space Studies (MSSpS)
- Subsurface Geoscience (MSSG)
For coordinated MBA/Master of Science degree from Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program, students must complete:
- A minimum of 75 credit hours in approved coursework, including:
- A minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate-level study (coursework at 500-level or above) to satisfy Professional Science Master's (PSM) degree requirements
- A minimum of 30 credit hours in corresponding science discipline
- All PSM degree-specific requirements
- A three to six month internship
- A minimum of 45 credit hours of graduate-level study (coursework at 500-level or above) to satisfy MBA degree requirements
- A minimum of 45 credit hours of business coursework
- All MBA core requirements, global field experience, custom core requirements, and coordinated elective requirements
Students plan their course schedules in consultation with Wiess School of Natural Sciences PSM program director and with Jones Graduate School of Business Registrar Department. Coordinated degrees candidates can fulfill both degrees within 3 academic years.

Candidates in MBA/Master of Science degree from Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program must complete all requirements as listed for both degrees, and must apply and be accepted in both degree programs.

In certain instances, courses not on this official list may be substituted upon approval of program's academic advisor, or where applicable, department or program's Director of Graduate Studies. Course substitutions must be formally applied and entered into Degree Works by department or program's Official Certifier. Additionally, these must be approved by Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Students and their academic advisors should identify and clearly document courses to be taken.
The English Language Proficiency Requirement may be waived for an international student who received a degree from an institution in which English is the official language of communication. Contact the admitting program for more information.
The following language proficiency tests are accepted by Rice graduate programs and will be used to assess English language proficiency. Please note the below scores are the minimum requirement, though some program requirements will be higher.
- The TOEFL IBT Home. A minimum score of 90 is required
- IELTS Indicator. A minimum score of 7 is required.
- Duolingo. A minimum score of 115 is required.
