To be eligible for admission to Master of Civil Engineering, a student must hold:
- a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent three year or four year Civil Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)OR a Bachelor Honours degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent four year Civil Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)OR a Graduate Certificate in Civil Engineering.
Students admitted to the program with a Bachelor Honours degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent four year Civil Engineering undergraduate degree or a Graduate Certificate in Civil Engineering will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the program. Trimester 2 entry is only available to students admitted with advanced standing.
Note: Only graduates of civil engineering will be admitted to this program due to its focus on technical design. The program is, therefore, not suitable to other engineering graduates.
From Trimester 2, 2025
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Civil Engineering, you must have one of:
Pathway 1 - 1 year program (80CP):
- a recognised four-year bachelor Honours degree in Engineering with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale; OR
- a recognised bachelor degree (or higher) in a *related discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale AND a minimum of 5 years full-time (or equivalent) relevant ^professional experience.
Pathway 2 - 1.5 year program (120CP):
- a recognised bachelor degree (or higher) in a *related discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale AND a minimum of 2 years full-time (or equivalent) relevant ^professional experience.
*Related Discipline: Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering.
^Professional Experience: Civil Engineer, Construction Engineer, Structural Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Façade Engineer or related engineering experience.
A higher qualification refers to a qualification at a higher level than a Bachelor qualification, which includes any of the following: a Bachelor Honours Degree; Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters Degree, MPhil or PhD.
Study option
If you do not meet the academic entry criteria, you may be able to study the Masters Qualifying Program (9354) and qualify for entry into this Masters degree.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
English test results must be no more than two years old.
International students who successfully complete the Direct Entry Program (DEP) will satisfy the English Language requirements for this Griffith degree.
The Direct Entry Program (DEP) is not available for Domestic students.
