    Industry trends

The National Study of Mental Health and Wellbeing, 2020–2022 reveals that two in five Australians aged 16 to 85 have experienced a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. The study also found that around 4.3 million Australians were affected by mental health issues in the 12 months prior to the survey’s release in 2022. Counsellors and psychotherapists have a crucial role to play in addressing the growing demand for mental health support across the country.

More broadly, the healthcare and social assistance sector has been the leading area for job creation in the Australian labour market since the 1990s. It outpaces all other industries and is projected to grow by an extra 301,000 jobs by 2026 (Jobs and Skills Australia, 2022).

    Accreditation
