    Minimum academic requirements

    Entry requirements

    2.0 year program

    You must have a recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline.

    1.5 year program

    You must have one of the following:

    • A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in health, business, or law; or
    • A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any other discipline plus at least 3 years full-time (or equivalent) professional experience working in health middle management (or higher).

    1 year program

    You must have completed QUT's Graduate Diploma in Health Management or Graduate Diploma in Health Management and Leadership within the last 7 years.

    0.5 year program

    You must have completed QUT's Graduate Diploma in Health Management or Graduate Diploma in Health Management and Leadership within the last 7 years plus one of the following:

    • A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in health, business, or law; or
    • A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any other discipline plus at least 3 years full-time (or equivalent) professional experience working in health middle management (or higher).

    Minimum English language requirements

    We accept English language proficiency scores from the following tests undertaken in a secure test centre. Tests must be taken no more than 2 years prior to the QUT course commencement.

    Health service managers are responsible for the business of health care. Their skills are used to develop strategies to maximise the efficient and effective delivery of health services in a diverse range of health settings. Health is a global industry and graduates have a range of employment options in both the public and private sector and an opportunity to make an important contribution to the future of health services nationally and internationally. Health services practitioners work as health service or health administration managers or officers, project officers, health insurance workers, and human resource managers.

    Our graduates have been employed in government health departments, public and private hospitals, primary healthcare services, health insurance agencies, consultancy firms, community health services and universities.

    Professional recognition

    The Master of Health Management allows Members of the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) to become Associate Fellows. It also allows those graduates with a Medical Degree to meet the requirements for entry into examination for the RACMA Fellowship (a registered medical speciality in Australia).
