    About

    The Griffith Graduate Infection Control Program is the longest running and most successful tertiary infection prevention and control education program across Australasia. This specialist program prepares graduates for advanced practice in infection prevention and control by addressing local, national, and international trends in the communicable diseases and infection.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    To be eligible for admission to the Master of Infection Prevention and Control, you must have:

    Pathway 1 - 1 year program (80CP):

    • A recognised Bachelor degree or higher in a *related discipline; AND
    • A minimum of 1 year full-time (or equivalent) relevant ^professional experience.


    Pathway 2 - 1.5 year program (120 CP)**

    • A recognised Bachelor degree or higher in a *related discipline; AND
    • A minimum of 1 year full-time (or equivalent) relevant ^professional experience.

    **This pathway includes a dissertation.

    * related disciplines: Health, Medical, Nursing or Scientific

    ^Relevant professional experience must be in infection prevention and control where infection prevention and control was a major focus of the role.

    English Program Requirements

    English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:

    English test results must be no more than two years old.

    The Direct Entry Program (DEP) pathway is not accepted for this program.

    Career

    Graduates are recognised for their expertise and ability to apply specialist and expert infection prevention and control knowledge and skills in a range of settings. The Master of Infection Prevention and Control is recognised by the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control as a core component of recognition as an Expert Credentialled Infection Control Professional (CICP-E). The Expert Credentialled Infection Control Professional ( CICP) is able to plan, implement, review and evaluate comprehensive infection control programs, apply core principles to challenging circumstances and generate new evidence for practice. Graduates with accreditation as an Expert Credentialled Infection Control Professional are leaders in knowledge generation and contribute to the evolution of the discipline of infection control. They act as professional role models and mentors to Primary and Advanced Infection Control Professionals in accordance with relevant guidelines and the best available evidence.

    If you have existing formal qualifications or relevant work experience, you may be eligible to receive credit which will reduce the duration of your study.

     

    To apply, provide details of your previous qualification or work experience in the ‘credit for previous study’ section when you submit your application. You may be required to supply detailed course outlines of your previous qualification(s) in English.

     

    4. Prepare supporting documentation

     

    Prepare supporting documentation including:

     

    • a certified* copy of your academic results (translated into English if applicable)

    • a certified* copy of your English test results (if available) and

    • if you are applying for a music or visual arts degree you may need to submit a portfolio of work, or audition (see individual program for details)

    Sponsored students must also supply documents confirming:

       

    *To certify your documents, a Justice of the Peace or other public notary—lawyer, policeman, solicitor, embassy official—must see your original documents, and sign and stamp the copies for you.
