    Master of Landscape Architecture

    About

The Master of Landscape Architecture is the international standard of landscape architecture education and can open-up new employment and business opportunities in New Zealand and overseas.

Lincoln University offers you two taught master's options, depending on your previous study. Both will allow you to grow an exciting future in the industry.

Our 240-credit (two year) Master of Landscape Architecture offers those without an accredited BLA, but with an undergraduate university degree in any other discipline, the opportunity to achieve a landscape architecture degree accredited by the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA).

Our 120-credit (one year) Master of Landscape Architecture offers those with an accredited Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) the opportunity to pursue more advanced or specialised study, such as evidence-based design.

Graduates are eligible to become registered professionals and are highly sought-after in public and private sectors in Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia and further afield.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

Whether you are considering a taught, taught/research or research-only Master’s degree, you will need a relevant degree with a B-grade average in your 300-level courses and final year (or full-time equivalent).

Taught Master’s degrees are usually 12-month full-time programmes. Like Bachelor’s degrees, they are delivered and assessed through a series of taught modules and may include independent research in the specialised subject area.

    Application tips

Check out this video for useful tips on what you need to prepare before submitting your taught master's application.

    Required documents

To submit your application online, you will need:

    1. A birth certificate or passport (a scanned copy showing the same name that is on your academic documents).

    2. Academic documents. These must be:

    • In the original language. If this is not English, then an official translation should be provided.
    • Academic transcripts (results or mark sheets) for all tertiary education qualifications, either completed or partially completed. The transcript must include the courses taken and the marks or grades achieved. The grading scale used must also be provided.
    • Confirmation of any completed qualifications, if applicable. This can be either: an award certificate, a statement on the transcript or a letter from the awarding institution.

    3. Evidence of English language proficiency (if applicable).

    • If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence that you are able to meet the English language requirements for admission to Lincoln. If you don't currently have this, you can provide it to us later.

    4. A Curriculum Vitae or Resume.

    • This is optional but can be used to evaluate your experience to support your application. It should be brief and must include tertiary education and any employment or project experience.

    Career

This programme will prepare you for a career as a landscape architect. You can start your own practice, or work for a landscape architecture firm or in a government organization. You'll also be able to collaborate with ecologists, architects, planners and engineers on a wide range of projects.

     2. Make your study application:

Once your MyLinc account is set up, log in to make your application. Let us know what you would like to study and give us as much information as you can, as this will help speed up your application. You can save your progress and come back later to complete your application.

    We ask for information about:

    • Your chosen study programme

     4. Accept your offer on MyLinc

After you accept your offer on MyLinc, you’ll receive instructions on how to complete your enrolment. You’ll also get your LU username, password and email address. These are sent via email, so monitor your junk/spam folders.

     5. Check any conditions in your Offer Letter
