    Introduction

    The specialist Master of Laws (International Law and Politics) is a degree designed for students who have a basic knowledge of Law and wish to develop their specialist knowledge in international law and politics.

    You will take courses in international law and international politics, plus a dissertation. Courses are delivered through Te Kaupeka Ture | Faculty of Law and Te Kura Mātāpuna Tangata | School of Language, Social and Political Sciences.

    The degree prepares you for careers in the diplomatic service, specialised legal practice, government, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, and the military.

    Entry requirements

    For admission to the degree, you must have qualified for a Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) or a Postgraduate Certificate in International Law and Politics with a minimum B Grade Point Average.

    Graduates with an undergraduate degree with a significant legal component (eg, Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies) or a non-law degree with relevant international law work experience are also encouraged to apply.

    If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC's English language requirements.

    English Program Requirements

    English language courses offered in partnership with CCEL will prepare you for study at Foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate degree level. The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses offered by CCEL are designed to provide you with the specific language and study skills you will need to succeed in academic study.
