Overview

Ideal if you hold a 3 year engineering degree but have no work experience.
With a focus on practical experience you will have the opportunity to undertake hands-on laboratory sessions and 60 days of industry experience. You will also complete a research project and dissertation applying all your formal knowledge to a real world problem. Whether this is the risks posed by natural disasters to structures or testing new construction materials, your project will provide insight to the profession of a Civil Engineer.
The research project and dissertation can also be a stepping stone to further research degrees, such as PhD.

Entry requirements

Recent secondary education

	Adjusted Entry score including adjustment factors (additional points given in certain circumstances).	Unadjusted Entry score not including adjustment factors.
ATAR The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a percentile rank used to assess the results of high-school applicants for undergraduate entry into university.	-	-

Australian university three or four-year Bachelor degree in engineering in the relevant specialisation, or equivalent.
Or
Australian university four-year Bachelor degree in engineering in a non-related specialisation, or equivalent.

To be eligible for advanced standing entry:

Completion of an Australian university four-year embedded honours degree in engineering in the same or closely related cognate specialisation (major).

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

English Program Requirements

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit (advanced standing) towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

As a civil engineering graduate possible career roles include civil engineer, construction engineer, structural engineer, transport engineer or water supply distribution engineer in either the public or private sector.
There are great opportunities for travel with consulting and contracting engineers often moving from one major engineering site to another. Your expertise could land you a job in some of the largest construction projects in the engineering world.
