Speech pathologists work with people with communication and swallowing disabilities. They may help young children with developmental speech and language difficulties; provide specialist support to school-aged children and adolescents with language, learning and reading difficulties; work on rehabilitation programs for adults with a brain injury; support those with autism, cleft palate or dementia; or optimise vocal skills.
The Master of Speech and Language Pathology will prepare you for a rewarding career in a professional or clinical role in private practice, hospitals, disability support or government. While developing expertise in communication and swallowing disorders, you’ll also have the opportunity to undertake advanced studies on topics such as cleft lip and palate, head and neck cancer, transgender voice and trauma-informed practice. And you’ll have the choice of studying full- or part-time within Macquarie University Health, our unique ecosystem of hospital and health clinics renowned for providing a cutting-edge environment for learning and practice.
