    About

    AIMC Berkeley’s Masters of Acupuncture (MAc.) with a specialization in Chinese Herbal Medicine program is designed for future acupuncturists who want to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine with a strong emphasis on integrative medicine. After initial accreditation for our revised & updated curriculum in 2016, AIMC Berkeley’s Master’s program received the maximum ACAOM re-accreditation of 7 years in 2021.

    Designed for future acupuncturists who want to practice East Asian Medicine with a strong emphasis on integrative medicine, this program is the fastest route to getting your license. This 10 term program can be completed in as little as three and a half years.

    Coursework includes didactic learning, hands-on learning, and clinical internship hours supervised by Acupuncturists at the top of the field.

    AIMC Berkeley operates year-round on a 15-week trimester system (3 terms of equal length per year) Our program is designed to be completed in 10 terms (3 1/3 years). The MAc. degree fulfills the educational requirements for both National (NCCAOM) and California (California Acupuncture Board) licensing standards. The program consists of 172.5 units (3082.5 hours) and is made up of both didactic and clinic practice units. Didactic units: 139.5 (2092.5 hours) Clinic units: 33 (990 hours)

    Entry Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED. AIMC Berkeley does not accept ability-to-benefit (ATB).
    • The minimum education requirements of 60-semester units (equivalent to 90 quarter units) of undergraduate work from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

    Applicants for the Dual Degree (MAc. & DAc.) program must have:

    • High school diploma or GED. AIMC Berkeley does not accept ability-to-benefit (ATB).
    • The minimum education requirements of 90-semester units (equivalent to 135 quarter units) of undergraduate work from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    How to Apply

    1. APPLICATION PART 1
    • Write a 500-word essay describing the path that led you to pursue Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine as a profession.
    • Fill out Application Part 1 for either the Masters/Dual Degree.
    • Pay the $100-application fee and submit the form.
    • Begin to gather documents for application Part 2.
    2. APPLICATION PART 2

    Review this list & gather the appropriate documents before beginning Part 2 of the Masters/Dual Degree Application.

    • Government Issued ID
    • Official college transcripts sent directly to AIMC Berkeley (via an electronic transcript service) from all schools attended previously. Due to shelter-in-place, AIMC Admissions can only accept electronic transcripts. If for some reason this is not possible for the sending institution, please contact Admissions for advice and a plan of how to proceed. Paper transcripts may take up to two weeks additional processing time.
    • Two recommendation letters that speak to your academic ability, professionalism, compassion, maturity, and ability to complete the Master’s, Dual Degree, or Doctorate Completion program and become a successful practitioner. Letters can be from professional, educational, or personal contacts.
    3. INTERVIEW

    Once we receive all your items, Admissions will contact you to schedule an online interview. Online interviews are preferred but a phone interview may be available if you do not have access to an internet connection.
