    About

    The Masters Qualifying Program (Standard) will set you up to succeed in one of our many highly regarded master degrees. You’ll benefit from small class sizes and personalised support from our expert teachers; and acquire a broad range of digital, information and academic literacies – as well as the numeracy skills – you need to complete studies at a postgraduate level. Once you successfully complete the program, you can progress with direct entry into your master degree.

    The program is suitable if you’ve completed former studies assessed at an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) 6 level and you’re at least 20 years of age at the time of commencement.

    Complete this degree in:
    If you meet the below or hold a recognised equivalent*:
    Course structure:
    0.4 years

    (full-time, or equivalent duration if available part-time)

    Completion of a Year 12 senior secondary qualification (HSC or equivalent) AND a 2-4 year full-time post-secondary qualification from a recognised institution assessed at Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree level (AQF 6) on the Australian Qualifications Framework.

    OR

    Completion of a 2-year full-time overseas Bachelor degree from a recognised institution assessed at Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree level (AQF 6) on the Australian Qualifications Framework.

    AND

    Students must be at least 20 years of age at the time of commencement.

    In addition to the criteria listed above, admission to the Masters Qualifying Program articulating to the following Masters requires a prior qualification in a related field:

    • Master of Information Systems Management
    • Master of Information Technology in Artificial Intelligence
    • Master of Information Technology in Cyber Security
    • Master of Data Science
    • Master of Engineering Management
    • Master of Biotechnology

    All Macquarie University applicants are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. The standard of English required for entry is based on the IELTS Academic test.     What if I don't meet the requirements?

    If you don’t meet the English requirements for your course, you may be issued an offer of study that includes an English preparation program at the Macquarie University English Language Centre (ELC). If you receive a packaged offer, you can apply for a single student visa covering both your English preparation program and your course.

    The length of your English program will depend on your current English level and the minimum English requirements for your course. Our admissions team will be able to recommend the number of weeks required when you submit your application.

    What English language tests are approved?

    We accept the IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT (internet-based), Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, Cambridge English Qualifications (C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency), and the Occupational English Test (OET).
