The Materials Engineering Program has a strong research record, with a mix
of fundamental research coupled with work of direct commercial relevance conducted in collaboration with industry. The program offers opportunities for study in fields ranging from materials production, including extraction from ores and recycling, to the design, development, and processing of these materials.
Topics of Research
Topics of current research include powder metallurgy processing of light metals, intermetallics, and cermet materials, corrosion, electronic materials development, synthesis of intermetallic compounds, ceramic processes and properties, as well as composite materials synthesis.
