Our courses will equip you with an armoury of skills to take into the world of work, including the ability to analyse problems, to work collaboratively as part of a team, and to develop laboratory, numeracy and communication skills. You will also gain an appreciation for a subject which links so many scientific disciplines through applications and examples as well as practical work and learning through research. In lectures, the topics and examples you discuss will be taken from the latest research, much of which is carried out right here by our academics .
Undertaking a placement in industry will allow you to develop real-world expertise and earn a salary whilst completing the third year of your degree. The transferable skills that you gain will prove invaluable in helping to shape your future career. In recent years companies our students have undertaken placements with include GlaxoSmithKline, Reckitt Benckiser, AstraZeneca, Roche, AzkoNobel, Lucozade Ribena Suntory and Cancer Research UK .
Requirements
Entry Requirements
37 points overall with 7,6,6 at Higher Level, including Chemistry and at least one other science or mathematics subject.
We will accept Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation.
English Program Requirements
All applicants to the University (from the UK and overseas) are required to show evidence of English Language proficiency.
The minimum English Language requirement for this course is either:

IELTS 6.5 overall with no sub-skill below 6.0

TOEFL iBT 90 overall with no subscore below 20. We do not accept TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition.

An acceptable equivalent qualification
Where specified, we also require grade 1 or 2 in the Oral Exam component of the iGCSE English Language (first or second language) qualification.
Please note that if you hold English as a Second Language iGCSE qualification, we may also require you to offer one of our acceptable equivalent qualifications or achieve a higher grade in your iGCSE than the one stated above.

Throughout the academic year, we run an extensive programme of employability events to further enhance your employment prospects, most of which are open to all students from all years. These events are run in collaboration with the University's award winning Careers Service , involving various alumni, employers and the Royal Society of Chemistry, and include numerous drop-in sessions.
