Medical Biochemistry, BSc (Hons) ,With Year in Industry

Medical Biochemistry is at the heart of modern medicine. It is crucial to the way we understand the causes and effects of disease and how we develop novel treatments. You will learn about the chemical processes that occur within living organisms and study how cells work at the sub-cellular and molecular levels. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the biochemical function of living organisms, particularly animals and humans. You will develop excellent project management skills and learn how to design experiments and plan work programmes.

Entry requirements for the 3-year BSc include:

A-levels/Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales: AAB-BCC. Chemistry essential, plus at least one other science (usually Biology)

IB: 32-34 to include Higher Level grades in Chemistry, plus at least one other science (usually Biology)

BTEC: Typically Distinction to Double Distinction plus A Level Grade B in Chemistry

T Levels: We welcome applicants with T levels. Applicants will be assessed on a case by case basis.

As well as one of the above qualification types applicants are required:

GCSE: English and Maths minimum Grade C Wales (England Pre-2017) or Grade 4 (England Post-2017)*

We accept Swansea University approved equivalent qualifications.

For applicants whose first language is not English we require a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and no less than 5.5 in each component.

Why not consider a Foundation Year?

*Students wishing to take the Pathway to Medicine option the GCSE requirement is mandatory
