Medical Laboratory Science

Prepare yourself to be eligible to write the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) national certification examination.

Modern health care has become increasingly dependent on complex laboratory tests—the results of which aid in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of disease. You will gain fundamental knowledge and skills in biological, physical and health sciences. The medical laboratory science-specific courses cover five laboratory disciplines: biochemistry, hematology, histotechnology, microbiology and transfusion science. 

This program is accredited by Accreditation Canada. Upon successful completion, you are eligible to write the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science national certification examination and subsequently work in all Canadian provinces and territories.

All applicants to full-time undergraduate programs should apply in one of two ways; choose only one.

Option one:

The OUAC online application system allows you to apply to multiple Ontario universities or programs with one application. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Apply online using the OUAC website using the 105 application.
2. Be sure to apply by the application deadline for the program to which you want to be admitted—you can choose up to three programs.
3. Once the university receives your application from the OUAC, we will send you information regarding the next steps in the admissions process.

Option two:

If you are only applying to Ontario Tech, apply internally at ontariotechu.ca/internationalapplication. You can apply to three programs for a $100 application fee.

Post-secondary credentials gained outside Canada may be subject to a request to be authenticated by World Education Services (WES).
