    Medical Science (Anatomical Sciences) MMedSci

    This programme is designed to facilitate the learning of the generic skills and knowledge essential to successful higher clinical practice and careers in academic medicine by applying the principles of the scientific method to studies in both anatomical research and clinicallyapplied anatomy.

    Course summary

    Our MMedSci programme provides a solid foundation of core, medical science knowledge. This fosters a wider perspective to critical, analytical thinking to enable better use of evidencebased information and its application to your chosen clinical field. 

    On succesful completion of the course you will be able to: 

    • Formulate questions to explore a wide variety of issues relating to patient care, service management, the effectiveness of healthcare interventions, research and education
    • Seek out and make effective use of the literature on a wide variety of topics
    • Write critical reviews, reports, and discussion documents on a wide variety of topics
    • Use your own experience and reflection as a powerful source of new learning and help others to do the same
    • Develop and enact personal learning plans
    • Communicate with, understand and work more effectively with colleagues in other health disciplines
    Teaching, learning and assessment Most teaching is based on interactive small group methods, interspersed with practical tasks or laboratory work and supplemented by a virtual learning environment. Literature packs and handouts are provided where appropriate. IT laboratories and video recording equipment are used to support some modules. Modules may include tasks to be completed before starting the module or between blocks. Taught modules are assessed in a variety of ways including, for example, written assignments/essays to hand in, PowerPoint presentations, anatomy viva, ultrasound practical skills assessment. The research project requires writing a mini thesis to include literature review, methods, results and discussion.

    Bachelor degree from a recognised institution with overall GPA of 2.75/4.0 or 68%75.9% Bachelor degree from a recognised institution with overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or 76%83.9% IELTS English or equivalent required check the requirement for your chosen course. For UK students, we normally ask for a minimum of a grade 4/C in GCSE English Language. For EU and International students, we accept qualifications from several countries, as well as a range of international qualifications and tests.

    Students who need a Visa to study in the UK must meet both the University entry requirements as well as those of the UK Home Office (UKVI). For example English Language Tests (eg IELTS) must be dated within the two years immediately preceding the programme start date as set out in any offer letter issued by the University and different tests cannot be combined.

    4. Receive your offer - offers will normally be made by the end of March if you applied by the January UCAS deadline
    5. Attend an Applicant Visit Day - this is your opportunity to have a 'taster' of life at Keele
    6. Make your choice - UCAS will advise you when you need to decide upon your 1st and 2nd university choice
    7. Apply for accommodation - once you've accepted your offer you can apply for accommodation
    8. Arrange your finances - register and apply online if you wish to receive a student loan
    9. Results day - your university place will be confirmed based upon meeting your entry requirements, along with your accommodation
    10. Clearing hotline - if you apply after 30 June or do not hold any offers, you can go through Clearing to find a university place
    11. Enrolment week - we'll send your Keele IT account details and enrolment details so that you can start your university journey with us
