    About

    The Metals Technology part of the course is worth 92 ECTS credit points (CP). It includes modules in Mathematics, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Thermodynamics, Product Development, Industrial Science and Production Technology. The Electrical Engineering, Thermodynamics and Materials Science modules involve laboratory work; provision is made for a product design project in the module. In addition to technical modules, the part of the course also includes a basic module on the structures of the vocational subject area of Metals Technology. The Bachelors degree programme concludes with a Bachelors thesis (15 CP), which students may prepare at any of the institutes within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.     • In addition to having an interest in the vocational subject area of Metals Technology and the teaching subject, prospective students should enjoy interacting with people, and should be empathetic, open to criticism and able to reflect on their actions.
    • They should also have a good knowledge of German and mathematics, as well as a good knowledge of a science subject, preferably physics.

    Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are restricted: English Studies (school subject: English), Food Science, German Studies (school subject: German), Politics, Spanish Studies, Sports.

    Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are admission-free: Catholic Religious Education, Chemistry, Colour Technology and Interior Decoration, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Metals Technology, Physics, Plant Operations and Manufacturing of Wood Products, Protestant Religious Education and Site Engineering.

    • In connection with completion of the Masters Teacher Training Course for Technical Education, the Bachelors Teacher Training Course for Technical Education qualifies graduates to enter the preparatory phase of teacher training to take on teaching positions at vocational schools. The preparatory phase of teacher training concludes with the State Examination, which entitles students to enter the teaching profession in the Federal State of Lower Saxony.
    • The Bachelors degree in Technical Education qualifies graduates to enter a profession in areas such as vocational education and training.
    • In connection with completion of the Masters Teacher Training Course for Technical Education

    How to Apply

    You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
