Level 9 Students
- Explore professional and legal issues relating to the role of the nurse managing minor injuries
- Explain the pathophysiology of minor injuries
- Critically appraise the skills required in consultation, history taking and assessment of patients presenting with minor injuries
- Examine the decision-making processes involved in the diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries
- Analyse the evidence base underpinning the management of minor injuries
Level 11 Students
- Critically appraise professional and legal issues relating to the role of the nurse managing minor injuries
- Evaluate the implications of the pathophysiological processes for patients presenting with minor injuries
- Critically appraise the skills required in consultation, history taking and assessment of patients presenting with minor injuries
- Critically analyse the decision making processes involved in the diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries
- Synthesize the concepts of evidence based practice that underpin the management of minor injuries through critical reflection.
Learning Methods
The module is delivered using blended learning including some contact days and online methods (including online chat and discussion forums). Students will engage with directed and self-directed learning activities supported by the module team.
Assessment
This course is assessed through an online exam.
