Develop your French, German or Spanish and broaden your understanding of societies and cultures where your chosen language is spoken.

Spend a year of this 4 year modern languages degree abroad on a workplace, teaching or university placement. Develop your language skills and critical thinking while learning about another country's culture, history and thought.

Whichever language you choose, you'll:

become immersed in the language and familiar with how it is spoken
develop the skills to interpret cultures and their beliefs and behaviours
study a society or cultures where your chosen language is spoken

Choose topics and gain expertise in areas that interest you most, including:

Scottish Qualification

Offers will be based on exams being taken at the end of S6. Subjects taken and qualifications achieved in S5 will be reviewed. Careful consideration will be given to an individual’s academic achievement, taking in to account the context and circumstances of their pre-university education.

As a modern languages graduate, you can pursue a range of careers, including French, German or Spanish-speaking roles.

These will make the most of your skills in:

We also focus on developing your employment skills throughout your time with us. This includes a compulsory module in your first year.
