    About

    Our innovative Modern Languages, Literature and Culture MA gives you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of one or more of the languages and cultures of the French, German, Portuguese and Spanish-speaking worlds. You can do a joint or single language MA that enables you to develop your existent linguistic and cultural skills or you can take our MA without any prior language skills in French, German, Spanish or Portuguese. You'll be able to choose from the widest range of modules in the UK, from the medieval period to the contemporary, covering film, literature, the visual arts, drama, philosophy, cultural memory and history. Exceptionally, we are delighted to be able to offer limited scholarships for prospective students. Please see below under Fees and Funding for further details.
  • Research in French, German and Spanish - research impact rated 87.5% at ‘world leading' (4*) or ‘internationally excellent' (3*) and at 100% for ‘world leading' (4*) research environment (REF 2021).
  • Our French, German and Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies Departments are amongst the oldest in the country, with an international reputation for the quality of our teaching and research
  • We provide each student with close and personal attention, with teaching offered in small groups that draw on the breadth and depth of our research expertise and enthusiasm
  • Students can take advantage of our central location in London giving them easy access to a wide range of institutes and centres that promote French, German, Hispanic and Lusophone cultures. We regularly collaborate with distinguished London partners (previous collaborations have included the Tate, Imperial War Museum, Freud Museum and the Wiener Library)

    Postgraduate taught courses

    Applicants who have completed a Bachelor degree from a recognised institution in Jordan will need to demonstrate the following grades to be considered for a Postgraduate course at King's:

    UK degree classification Jordanian equivalency

    High 2:1 Class Bachelor (Honours) degree

    (equivalent to 65% overall)

    GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0

    Overall score of 80%

    2:1 Class Bachelor (Honours) degree

    GPA of 3.3 out of 4.0

    Overall score of 75%

    High 2:2 Class Bachelor (Honours) degree

    GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0

    Overall score of 70%

    Postgraduate research courses

    A Master's degree from a recognised university with high grades considered for programmes requiring a UK Master's degree.

    English Program Requirements

    To study at King's, it is essential that you can communicate effectively in English and are able to do so in an academic environment. You are usually required to provide certification of your competence in English before starting your studies.
