About

The Masters programme in Molecular Microbiology at Leibniz UniversitÃ¤t Hannover covers areas such as microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, genetic engineering, environmental research and active ingredient research. The degree programme is both research oriented (basic research in the areas of microbial genetics and biochemistry, microbial cell biology, virology, infection biology and environmental microbiology) and application oriented (in the areas of biotechnology, microbiological chemistry and active ingredients). Consequently, the Masters degree programme in Molecular Microbiology is geared towards todays needs in the areas of basic molecular research, industrial research and development, and microbiological analysis.

Completion of a Bachelorâ€™s degree in a related subject, such as Biology, Life Science or Biochemistry, covering basic microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry and biochemistry.
Applicants from abroad must prove that they have a suitable educational background that has been recognised as equivalent.
An adequate knowledge of English. Nowadays, English is the language of science, in the literature and in international communication.

How to Apply

You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
