    About

    This MSc course is delivered in two streams; the Environmental Health & Safety stream, established in 1999; and the Health Safety and Human Factors stream introduced in 2019. The program enjoys a widespread academic and professional reputation. It is also accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) while the Human Factors stream gives access to full membership for the Irish Human Factors Ergonomics Society.

    There has been increasing demand for the stream on Health and Safety & Ergonomics, as expressed by the Irish Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. There is growing demand in Ireland for health and professionals Ergonomics and Human Factors skills, in particular at masters level.

    The objectives of the M.Sc. programme are to provide students with;

    • a framework for lifelong learning,
    • skills necessary to critically evaluate cutting-edge scientific and technical developments related to safety and ergonomics,
    • in-depth understanding and knowledge in their chosen specialised discipline area,
    • competence in general, technical and scientific communication related to ergonomics,
    • skills necessary to undertake independent, hypothesis-driven scientific enquiry,
    • core management skills and the ability to further develop and apply these skills,
    • ability to plan, perform, analyse and report hypothesis-driven research.

    The following modules can be taken as CPD modules by those not enrolled on the Masters programme, and by graduates of the Masters of Science in Environmental Health and Safety:

    CPDSH06-TFSM 9007 Environmental Management II
    &
    CPDSH06-TFSM9020 Human Factors and Ergonomics

    The course is streamed into two distinct streams; the Masters of Science in Environmental Health & Safety, and the Masters of Science in Health, Safety & Human Factors. The delivery of both streams will include eight common modules being taught which are;

    • Industrial and Occupational Hygiene Dr Patricia Ennis

    • Fire Safety Dr Victor Hrymak
    • Integrated Case Study Dr Victor Hrymak

    Those candidates who opt for the MSc in Environmental Health & Safety stream, will avail of two further modules:

    • Environmental Management Dr Victor Hrymak
    • Environmental Health and Safety Dissertation Dr Victor Hrymak

    Those candidates who opt for the MSc in Health Safety & Human Factors stream will avail of the following two modules:

    • Ergonomics and Human Factors Dr Maria Chiara Leva
    • Ergonomics and Human Factors Dissertation Dr Maria Chiara Leva

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Successful completion of Saudi Associate Degree with a 2.75/4 CGPA. Must have 3/4 CGPA for Engineering/Computing/Science programmes

    or

    Tawjihiyah (General Secondary Education Certificate) plus successful completion of TU Dublin Foundation or another recognised pre-university foundation with relevant subjects and 60% - 65%

    Career

    Graduates are expected to be employed within manufacturing, technology, public and private sectors, chemical, environmental and associated industries in a variety of health, hygiene, safety, fire, food, quality, regulatory, consultancy and related roles.
