MSc International Accounting and Financial Management

    About

    Course Overview

Prepare for an international career in accounting and finance with our dynamic MSc in International Accounting and Financial Management. Whether you’ve previously studied accounting, finance, or business in a non-English context or are new to the field, this course is for you.

You’ll gain a solid foundation in general accounting and financial management while exploring essential business functions such as managing people, strategic marketing, and global business skills. There’s no dissertation, so you'll benefit from an additional semester of taught modules, where you’ll explore topics such as performance management and reporting.

To thrive on this course, you don’t need to have studied or worked in business before. All you need is an enthusiasm for working with numbers and a desire to develop crucial soft skills like communication, teamwork and presenting. This course emphasises both technical knowledge and interpersonal skills. You’ll learn practical skills such as preparing and interpreting financial reports, analysing management performance, and conducting investment appraisals, along with key accounting and financial management theories. You'll explore what makes a good accountant or financial manager and how to understand different management perspectives for effective decision-making.

You’ll develop critical and analytical thinking, learning to make informed decisions about which theories to apply and how to combine different approaches. You’ll also have the chance to future-proof your career by investigating the latest financial and accounting techniques. In addition, you’ll discover how to present information to non-specialists, how to manage people, how to work effectively in teams, and how to see issues from different perspectives.

Here at UEA, our strong links with industry ensure that you’ll learn the theories and practices demanded by employers. We’ll help you hone skills such as CV writing and solo and group interviews. You’ll also be able to take part in our annual Employability Week, where you’ll have a chance to network with industry professionals, including NBS alumni. During Employability Week, you’ll meet representatives from accountancy firms, commercial firms, public sector organisations, and professional accountancy bodies to help kick-start your career.
