Your studies will be split across three semesters from September to September. During your first semester we’ll give you a thorough introduction to masters level learning with a bespoke module that gives you the tools and capabilities to confidently engage with postgraduate study. Alongside this you’ll study your first subject-led modules in governance, risk and forensic accounting, corporate finance and sustainability and sustainable development. The sustainability and sustainable development module you will share with students on the MSc Management and Sustainability course, giving you the opportunity to network and collaborate with peers from other sustainability-focused masters.
In your second semester you’ll dive deeper into your core sustainable finance subjects. These subjects will include sustainable finance and investing, environmental economics and finance, carbon accounting and environmental reporting and fintech and sustainability. These modules will explore how to approach sustainability and environmental concerns within different areas of finance and management, incorporating traditional and future concepts.
Your final semester will be the research portion of the course. First you’ll complete an extended research proposal, selecting a topic that interests you within sustainable finance – this may be something you have explored within your core modules already or something you wish to explore in further detail. For your dissertation you’ll focus on applying the research which you have identified in your proposal and collect and analyse data based upon your research questions.
Throughout your course you will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, attend networking events and go on optional study trips (subject to availability). You’ll be supported by an expert teaching team who have a wealth of experience in finance and management. You’ll also have the support of a dedicated careers and employability team who not only help you with CV and interview advice, but also host careers and networking events and workshops throughout the academic year to help boost your confidence and employability skills. We’ll also encourage you to complete further career-enriching activities such as carbon literacy training.
