    About

    If you have ambitions to make it big in the music business, then this course will give you the knowledge and industry experience you need to manage your own career and commercialise your activities.

    MA Music Industry Management & Promotion is designed to facilitate the commercial exploitation of music-related activities and is suitable for aspiring and current music business people, and for music creators who wish to proactively manage their own careers. It provides an opportunity to study the music business at the postgraduate level and to get real hands-on experience of working on real-world projects.

    In this course, you will be able to study contemporary practice across the spectrum of the music industry. Youll look at different business models and explore the ways in which creative products are marketed and promoted.

    Youll also engage with the key issues being confronted by todays music industry such as the Pandemic and the impact of new technology and the development of the digital marketplace – and explore the challenges and opportunities which have emerged. As you progress, youll have the chance to develop your own commercial, professional and industrial strategies.

    What youll do

    • Incredible opportunities for real industry experience – previous students have overseen the promotion of national concert tours, book launches, films and celebrity appearances.
    • Other students have worked with international artists and record labels, developed new music brands, organised festivals and other live music events, and much more.
    • Opportunities to work alongside and be mentored by leading industry practitioners, attend talks and guest lectures, and work on collaborative projects with professional musicians.
    • The programme prepares students to navigate the constantly changing environment of the music industry with a focus on sustainable careers and how to get ahead in what is a challenging but immensely enjoyable and rewarding industry.
    • This is achieved by triangulating the rigorous academia and research that you would expect to find in a world leading Masters programme, with access to expert industrial insight from accomplished practitioners and experiential learning gained through working on practical real world projects.
    • The course is very much centred around each individual students' career aims and the expertise available affords insight and enables exploration of any aspect of the modern music industry, whether you are a creative seeking to take control of your own career, or someone with interests in industry management roles.
